Review of the year 2020

No water, no life. No blue, no green.

     

This year has been quite different from any other our institute has experienced in its nearly 30-year history. Nevertheless, a lot has happened: We were able to report many exciting research results, as well as the perpetuation of the U Bremen Research Alliance and the introduction of the German Alliance for Marine Research (DAM). We welcomed numerous students at the 3rd Bremen Ocean Day, and the entrance area to our Molecular Ecology department is now adorned with a colorful mural. We also learned what it is like to work as a visiting researcher at our institute in times of Corona and welcomed the new marmic class. Last but not least, we have grown substantially: Where there used to be green meadow and a parking lot not long ago, we can now see our recently opened new building. There we have plenty of space for new offices, laboratories and community rooms as well as a parent-child room.

Now this year is drawing to a close. Many thanks to all colleagues from far and near for a beautiful and successful year!
