🎃 Pumpkin carving
Let’s welcome the spooooky season with pumpkin carving on 23.10., Thursday, 17:00! We will provide the pumpkins and knives. Please sign up here if you want a pumpkin. If you don't want to carve, you can join us for drinks 🍺. We'll serve alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for 1€ (0.50€ for students and HiWis). See you there! 👻

🍺 Thirsty Thursdays
This informal event is open to all students/admin/PIs/technicians. We serve cold alcoholic and non-alcoholic drinks for 1€ each. Students (BS, MS), trainees, and HiWis get half price (0.5€). 👋
We’ll be hosting this event every month on (you've guessed it!) a Thursday, with specific dates announced by e-mail. It is usually at 17:00 onwards by the MPI pond (weather permitting) or the cafeteria downstairs.

🌈 CSD Bremen 2025
We organized to march as a group at the Christopher Street Day (CSD) celebration last 23.8.2025, Saturday. CSD is the German counterpart of Pride parades, the annual celebrations supporting LGBTQIA+ rights.
🍗 MPI BBQ + Bingo
After the MPI Day on 4.9.2025, we hosted a barbecue party and played a Bingo card game to get to know our colleagues better.

👩🏻🎓 General Student Assembly
We organized a general student assembly prior to the MarMic retreat to ensure the retreat assembly keeps to times and runs smoothly.

📚 MPI Internal Scientific Courses
These internal courses are offered by scientists for fellow scientists, covering any topic from lab techniques and programming/bioinformatics to soft skills (e.g. grant proposal). 👋 It MA(t)TER(s)
It MA(t)TER(s) is a student-led conference jointly organized by the PhD reps from MPI Marburg and Bremen. The next one will be at our institute in 05.2026. If you want to volunteer for the organization, let us know!

Mental Health Road Map

Volunteers for navigating the mental health system in German
If you are seeking mental healthcare for any reason and you need help making phone calls in German, these colleagues have volunteered to be translators. They are not qualified mental health professionals but they are willing to act as a neutral safe space to help with German translation and phone conversations.
