Lauren Queiss Wins Best Poster Award at the “Women in Electron Microscopy” Event
The first international networking event “Women in Electron Microscopy” (WeM) took place from 8 to 10 October 2025 at Forschungszentrum Jülich (Germany). The two-day event aimed to increase the visibility of female researchers in the field of electron microscopy – a discipline in which women are still underrepresented today.
The program included talks, panel discussions, workshops, and a poster session, in which our colleague Dr. Lauren Queiss from the Max Planck Research Group Protist Virology was awarded the Best Poster Award.
“This conference was incredible – creating a safe space for multidisciplinary scientists to share their personal and professional experiences of navigating a world not built for everyone”, said Queiss. “The WeM conference created an inclusive and supportive community for building networks and encouraging new collaborations across the field.”
We at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology congratulate Lauren Queiss on this prize and thank the organizers of the WeM event for supporting women in the field of electron microscopy.
