Lauren Queiss Wins Best Poster Award at the “Women in Electron Microscopy” Event

The first international networking event “Women in Electron Microscopy” (WeM) took place from 8 to 10 October 2025 at Forschungszentrum Jülich (Germany). The two-day event aimed to increase the visibility of female researchers in the field of electron microscopy – a discipline in which women are still underrepresented today.

The program included talks, panel discussions, workshops, and a poster session, in which our colleague Dr. Lauren Queiss from the Max Planck Re­search Group Protist Vir­o­logy was awarded the Best Poster Award.

“This conference was incredible – creating a safe space for multidisciplinary scientists to share their personal and professional experiences of navigating a world not built for everyone”, said Queiss. “The WeM conference created an inclusive and supportive community for building networks and encouraging new collaborations across the field.”
