Boran Kartal is now a cooperation professor at Jacobs University

Dr. Boran Kartal, group leader of the Microbial Physiology Research Group at the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology in Bremen, Germany, was appointed cooperation professor at the Jacobs University in Bremen, which thereby strengthens its teaching and research activities. Kartal, together with a number of other new faculty members were welcomed for the start of the academic year 2020/2021.

“I am very happy about this appointment,” says Kartal. “which will intensify the scientific cooperation between the Max Planck Institute for Marine Microbiology and Jacobs University. I am really looking forward to training future microbial physiologists, who will shape this exciting field of research in the years to come.”

“We welcome our new faculty members and look forward to their contribution to the further development of teaching and research at Jacobs University,” says Professor Thomas Auf der Heyde, Provost of the international university, in an accompanying press release. “In their research areas they are doing pioneering work. All of them are also committed to outstanding teaching. The newly appointed professors are a great enrichment for our University and for Bremen.”
